Last episode, we made diner. Tonight we make a drink to relax. Close you eyes and listen and relax as we make a Hot Toddy tonight.
There is nothing better than a warm drink to help you relax. My favorite drink is my special Hot Toddy made with a fruity tea such as a Raspberry Zinger, Lemon Zinger, or Cherry Blossom tea, Costco Canadian whiskey, Crown Maple Bourbon Barrel Aged Maple Syrup, Honey and Lemon Juice.
Hot Toddies are often associated with providing temporary relief from cold symptoms and soothing a sore throat. While they may not cure an illness, they can offer some comfort and help alleviate certain symptoms. Here are a few potential benefits of Hot Toddies:
- Soothing effect: The warmth of a Hot Toddy can provide temporary relief for a sore throat, as warm liquids are often soothing and can help reduce irritation.
- Hydration: Hot Toddy recipes typically include hot water, which can help keep you hydrated, especially when dealing with symptoms like congestion or a runny nose.
- Sleep aid: The relaxing properties of a Hot Toddy, combined with the warmth, can help promote sleep and provide comfort when you're feeling under the weather.
- Nasal congestion relief: The steam from a Hot Toddy can help temporarily alleviate nasal congestion, making it easier to breathe.
- Cough suppressant: Honey, a common ingredient in Hot Toddies, is known for its natural cough-suppressing properties. It can help soothe a cough and provide some relief.
Here's a recipe for Hot Toddy:
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ ounces (45 ml) of whiskey (bourbon or rye whiskey work well)
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- 1 tablespoon of Barrel Aged Maple Syrup
- ½ ounce (15 ml) of fresh lemon juice
- 1 cup of boiling water
- Optional garnishes: lemon slice, cinnamon stick, and/or cloves
Instructions:
Step 1: Start by heating water until it reaches a boil.
Step 2: While the water is heating, choose a heatproof glass or mug to serve your Hot Toddy.
Step 3: Add a Tea Bag to the Mug.
Step 4: Once the water is boiling, carefully pour it into the glass or mug,
Step 5 Add the whiskey, honey, and fresh lemon juice to the glass or mug.
Step 6: Stir the ingredients well until the honey is completely dissolved.
Step 7: If desired, garnish your Hot Toddy with a slice of lemon, a cinnamon stick, and/or a few cloves. These add visual appeal and enhance the flavor.
Step 8: Allow the Hot Toddy to steep for a few minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
Step 9: Sip and enjoy your comforting, warm Hot Toddy!
Note: The amount of honey and lemon juice can be adjusted according to personal taste preferences. Some people prefer a sweeter or more citrusy flavor, so feel free to experiment and adapt the recipe to your liking. Additionally, you can customize your Hot Toddy by adding spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, or a dash of cloves for an extra cozy touch.
Remember to drink responsibly and enjoy your Hot Toddy in moderation. Cheers!
Sleep Well!
